First introduced in 2006, with the widely-praised F 800 S, BMW's 798cc parallel- twin motor has gone on to power everything from roadsters to tourers and adventure bikes.

But sometimes it gets glossed over in favour of its bigger and more-famous brother: the Boxer engine. Here are a few things it's worth knowing about the unstoppable F-series bikes.
